FAQs

The following information is designed to give you a general understanding of the purpose of the free trial week and answer some frequently asked questions.

What is the purpose of the free trial week

The free trial week is aimed at increasing your level of understanding of Wing Tsun and the benefits it offers. Through experience of WingTsun, the free trial week helps you identify how you can achieve your goals as a result of practicing Wing Tsun. We offer the free trial week because we are confident you’ll find WingTsun to be the most effective self-defence on the market. And we want to give you the chance to realise this for yourself at no expense!

How many classes can I attend in the trial week?

The free trial week enables you to participate in as many of the Wing Tsun classes as you like in that week for free! During the trial week you may attend any of the classes at any of the schools for free. Unfortunately the free classes cannot be spread over several weeks, but must be attended within the week after your first trial class.

What to wear?

During training please wear a white T-shirt and black pants with a clean pair of sneakers or trainers. Coloured T-shirts in the WT system denote certain senior student grades, so white T-shirts saves any confusion.

What is the appropriate code of conduct followed in training?

Please refer to our Student Code of Conduct and our Student Code of Ethics to give you a full understanding of your requirements whilst training.

Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions during training as we are all here to learn and others may also benefit from your questions. Remember whilst training should you be unable to perform any of the exercises for any reason please inform the trainer. We want your time here to be enjoyable as well as educational, and take pride in maintaining an environment in which you are comfortable.

How do I become a member of a WT School?

Membership is both simple and convenient. You have a choice of either a six or twelve month membership contract, and you also choose how many times you want to train each week. At your trial week you will be given the fee structure for you to see all the options.

Membership allows you to train on any day according to the amount of training days specified on your contract. You are not limited to any particular day. It is also possible to attend classes other Wing Tsun schools should you be unable to attend your regular Wing Tsun school class. Always present your AWTN passport upon arrival at a new school.

To become a member all you will need are your personal details, 2 passport photos, bank details (BSB number and account number) or a credit card. Once you are a member, contracts are renewed automatically.

What other costs are there besides my WT School membership contract?

To train at any WingTsun School throughout Australia, you must become a member of the Australian WingTsun Network (AWTN). Upon membership to the AWTN you will receive a Wing Tsun passport/ID card that is a once-off fee of $10. Per year you will need to pay a $89 fee for your AWTN membership, which is the National governing body for all Wing Tsun schools. Other than that you will need to purchase a uniform that should be obtained within the first three months of training.

Uniforms can be pieced together over time or bought as a set (buying as a set saves money). A complete uniform is required for attending any seminar. Groin protectors are compulsory for male students and highly recommended for female students. All uniforms & protection gear can be purchased from our online store at: www.silvaback.com.au

How will I be graded?

To keep the nervousness and stress out of your grading, gradings are integrated into one-day seminars, which are run every four months. This relaxed environment ensures you perform at a maximum when it counts, and also gives you the chance to meet others that practice and enjoy Wing Tsun. The grading also gives you the opportunity to train under Si-Fu for the one-day seminar (approximately 6 hours). Please note that the seminar and grading fee is not included in the membership fee.
