The best method of self defence is one that can fend off the most attacks with the least amount of movements. In the book "On Single Combat", Grand Master Keith Kernspecht gives an excellent scientific explanation of why "less is more". Perfecting one move that provides comprehensive defence will stand you in better stead in a dangerous situation than learning hundreds of moves and not being able to carry out any of them properly. Studying WT will enable you to: - Learn how to avoid potentially volatile situations
- Learn verbal violence prevention techniques
- Learn how to manage your fear when in stressful situations such as physical confrontations
- Learn quick, efficient and realistic techniques to prevent your assailant from continuing with their attack
In a real self defence situation rules of fairness (which could alter the outcome of a fight) don't exist. On the street, unfortunately there are no rules. That's why in WT we stress the importance of a training system that is as full and complete as possible, and which acknowledges all of the "five distances" that are part of the fighting-situation: fighting with feet, hands, knees and elbows, holding and throwing and finally ground fighting or as we like to call it anti-grappling In any of the above situations the WT principles can be applied successfully, which is why so many martial arts practitioners turn to WT. - Improves your reflexes, co-ordination and breathing, thus increasing your performance in all physical activities
