Craig Hillier “Wing Tsun”

I grew up watching far to much TV as a kid and Bruce lee was my hero growing up so I have always had an interest in martial arts.
I started my first school in Karate at Primary school and since then had moved on to train in varies types such as Jujitsu, Ninjutsu, Hupkido, Shaolin kung fu and Muay Thai.

Every school that I attend too I gave 110% and was always satisfied with my training and the ability to lean a martial art. Eventually I would get bored and move on to something new and different, I guess I was always concerned that I may be wasting my time with a style that wasn’t right for me, their was nothing wrong with the Martial art I had be practicing but I wasn’t overly enrolled in it personally.

I eventually came across Wing Tsun, which had a school in south Brisbane but wasn’t too sure since I have never heard of this style before I could not relate to it. I meet up with Si Hing (Juergen) and his highest student to discuss Wing Tsun and watch a demo of course but he didn’t give me a demo instead he explained the concept behind the theory and he could also back it up too. I joined up on the spot. This was very different but along the lines of which I have been looking for. I was very excited to start. Confidence within an aggressive situation has always been an issue for me and over the years of training in other styles I had always struggled with being confident enough to defend my self.

It has been 4 years now since I started with Wing Tsun and hope to pursue many more, as I can’t get enough of it.

Training in class then putting it to the test in fighting class, I found this to be very practical method in a martial art that claimed to be used in self defence. There is always something new, smart and practical to learn everyday which keeps me excited and eager to continue with my training here at Wing Tsun. I encourage anyone who wants to learn a system that works based on a realistic environment for the average person but don’t forget like any other Martial art, it will take time and its up to you to put the time in.
